Something cleaning related that I have not used before or needed too that’s now become a staple…. Yep the detailing brushes that car owners use more than us bikers, but is that all about to change.
When having a good clean of your babies getting into the small awkward areas is something I always used a microfibre cloth with a thin piece of wood like a chop stick, or even a tooth pic just to do a deep down clean, but that’s now ended. With a decent set of detailing brushes you can pretty much cover that annoying past issue and clean in those hard to reach crevices now, especially with a range of different sized brushes.
All you need is a decent brand of APC (All Purpose Cleaner) and a set of detailing brushes and your set to clean areas you never could before, them small but noticeable places like your motorcycle badges, or for me the 4D licence plate that I could never get cleaned before as the letters gaps made it a real pain to get into the gaps and spaces perfect and I would just wipe it over…. Now I detail that bugger with a couple of squirts of my APC and my new trusty detailing brush and its never looked so good. The same goes for my “S” logo on my tank side panels, I would also have a issue getting right into the edges, but that’s all a thing of the past. Now more areas will be my vice, its all cleanable now…..
I only paid £6 for my basic set but damn they held up really well with a really soft bristles and they hold up to some chemical use too. I kept them for certain areas though, so I do not risk any contamination, IE wheels, licence plate and plastics logo and badges, and one for my engine.
Yes I know you can go over kill but sometimes it’s a great therapy cleaning your bike, can chill with some music, relax and clean. Yes it adds way more time to cleaning, a couple of hours previous cleaning now added another hour of work but its all good, the bike is happier for it, and it looks spot on too.
So for a small out lay and some extra time you too can get into them tight spots that hold that small amount of dirt and grime and you can banish it away and feel good about it all.
