Ghost D3O IP Armour – CE certified level 2 protection.
This product truly astounds me with its remarkable thinness and flexibility. It feels as if there is virtually nothing there compared to the more conventional rigid foam D30 armour. The new IP D30 is like holding a sheet of fabric, lacking any defined shape or rigid support.
I have been an avid user of the more traditional foam-style D30 and I cannot speak highly enough of it. It provides adequate rigidity for support while also offering some flexibility and comfort and then upon impact it instantly transforms into a firm barrier, delivering the necessary protection us bikers need. I have gradually replaced the stock inexpensive CE approved armour in all my gear with the foam like D30, however thou, this newer Ghost IP D30 armour is an entirely different product.
I purchased this Ghost IP D30 armour to enhance the flexibility of my summer jacket. The previous D30 style was fantastic in terms of comfort and protection, but it caused inconvenience when I turned my head, often catching on my GoPro. This became rather annoying during right lifesaver checks and that lead to embarking on a search for a better solution, which led me to SportBikeShop, where I discovered this amazing product.
I have now replaced my summer mesh jacket with this new IP D30 armour, and it feels as if there is nothing there. This level of flexibility is a game-changer in terms of armour replacement, now admittedly it does carries a higher price tag than traditional armour, but the combination of comfort and it’s hugely improved protection makes it well worth that investment. I do not intend to upgrade all my gear to this newer armour since the old D30 is still outstanding. However, for my specific use case it has resolved my issue and maintained the necessary level of protection.
For the last few weeks of using it has transformed my jacket from a stiff yet practical jacket into something that is extraordinarily comfy and useable light weight version of itself. Highly impressed and a worthy upgrade for any biker and rider.
