Barkbusters VPS Handguards with deflectors.
I owned these for a good amount of time now, and brought them to give some protection to my levers (review due on these too) and also my hands from road debris. Now being bike specific they are really easy to install and took about 15-20 minutes to install, unlike many universal style ones which I have also tried now. You can buy also different style guards itself to add to these, I believe the ones I am using are the called VPS and I also added the extra additional section to add more height to them. These fit on to the metal bar side and then the additional height section screws onto the main VPS guard part.
Once fitted and mount to the bike they really add some great protection, the quality of these really is well made and second to none, others even metal style ones don’t come close in build. They really help from wind but also I can see these helping loads in a crash from how strong the metal framework is. They do cost towards 2-3 times what the cheap clone style are, but in my view they are worth it, they just fit so well and no need to bend or adjust like the clone style ones are.
Wind protection is great and they really help from road grit flying up and hitting you, the only downside I can say is they do mark pretty easy from road grit and don’t remain new looking for long, but the overall protection side is worth this issue. They don’t hinder use of the levers at all and allow a decent amount of gap so you don’t knock your fingers when using levers, again like others I have tried that do and its bloody annoying.
The Barkbusters brand of handguards was first manufactured in Australia in 1984. CEO Matthew Phillpott has over 30 years’ experience in the motorcycle industry and his enthusiasm for riding motorcycles has helped develop these handguards.Overall I got to rate these as a highly recommended item to buy, and a decent price for the overall protection gained from them.
