Innovv 3rd Eye

Blinded by the Light: Innovv 3rd Eye Blind Spot Detector Delivers a reliable feeling of extra safety when riding your bike.

When it comes to motorcycle safety, we can never be too cautious and that is where the Innovv 3rd Eye Blind Spot Detector comes in, a gadget looking to be the “guardian angel” for your motorcycle blind spots, but does it live up to this, or is it just another gizmo destined for the “why did I buy this ?” And end up not really being used……

Install: A DIY Adventure (for me thou a BikeMoto install)

First things first, the installation. This is a simple plug and play mostly, with pre set wiring looms that allow for quick connections, hardest part for the install would be the hiding of the wiring and the location of the unit under the seat, specially with limited space under there, but do set aside a good 30 mins, I went the lazy install this time having Dan at BikeMoto install with then the tweaking of the wiring afterwards by me.

Design and Build Quality: Sleek Yet Sturdy

The Innovv 3rd Eye scores high in the build and quality department, with its sleek black finish and compact design it integrates seamlessly with the bike’s look without sticking out like a sore thumb. The materials used feel durable and being waterproofing is a needed touch for those unpredictable weather days. It’s clear the designers at Innovv paid attention to detail of this along with its functionalities giving it a premium vibe that doesn’t scream “cheap add-on.”

It looks close to a factory fitted device, not some extra add-on to my bike which is really good as I do love clean looks from my Africa Twin.

Functionality: The Good, The Bad, and The Beepy (yep it does beep)

Now to the outcome – does it actually work? The answer is a hugely successful yes from me. The sensors do a amazing job detecting vehicles in your blind spots, and the LED indicators are bright enough to catch your peripheral vision without being a distraction. The audio alerts, on the other hand, are a little to quiet as the sounds come from the main unit which is under the seat, if they had it set to sound from the led side that would be spot on and enlightening 🙂 you can switch the sound off via a button on the led unit side too thou if you managed to mount the main unit elsewhere. It picks up well from either undertaking and overtaking vehicles  showing which side they approach from, and also if a vehicle comes from directly behind you at a speed too. Watching at a set of traffic lights on my review camera and then seeing the led lights come on from the 3rd eye system you can clearly see it doing its job well.

Verdict: A Gadget for the Cautious Optimist

The Innovv 3rd Eye Blind Spot Detector is a well-intentioned piece of tech with alot going for it. If you’re someone who values an extra layer of safety and is willing to overlook the price, this could be a worthy addition to your motorcycle. The price is the only let down, its not the cheapest unit out there for this kind of tech, but being the brand name unit it does give that quality product feel and lets face it you do also get amazing customer service from them, more so thou from the main global support over the UK one which I never got a email reply back from.

In the grand market of motorcycle accessories, the Innovv 3rd Eye shines brightly and beeps well it’s a step in the right direction for enhancing rider safety.  it could very well become a trusty companion on the road. Just don’t forget to keep your actual eyes sharp as it should NOT become something you rely on over your Shoulder / Life saver checks.

10/10 really would recommend this to any biker, really an impressive add on for extra layer of safety.
