Dr Downpipe

Dr Downpipe Motorcycle Exhaust Cleaner – 500ML Spray Bottle.

Yep another cleaning review again, and this time something a little different. Exhaust cleaning that comes in the form of Dr Downpipe spray cleaner. I been a follower of his work for a while and it was time I did some dedicated cleaning on this area, so placing my order via Amazon I hoped it would arrive quick, but no matter were you order it seems a week delay on it arriving.

So placing my order and then booking the time in my head to do it at the following weekend along with the wife sorting hers out as she just got her new exhaust system installed so would do well to clean both mine and hers at the same time to get a good play with this stuff.

Well it is pretty simple solution to use, spray it on after covering any other areas up, leave for a minute, and then use a pad to wipe off and repeat until clean and shiny. Well that’s seems pretty straight forward, but for me it was not…. After a couple of goes it did not do that well on my rear sections of my system, the header pipes came up a lot better thou, but not a lot of change in the mid to rear. Now could that be to a reason of age its been dirty, or that I have a coating on it… unsure. If it was a coating the same was done to the wife system and that turned out so much better.

Again both mine and the wife can and pipes both had a good going over with this stuff, left it on for the minute it says and clean with a pad and repeat, but after 20 mins of rubbing and cleaning it really only worked better on the Mrs system which was a shame as mine needed a good tidy look too.

So mixed result sorry to say, we also used up half the bottle as we repeated it so many times on mine to try and get a better result, and for £17 a bottle of 500ml its not the cheapest of stuff.

Tempted to try the bleach (Harpic) version of cleaning to see if that results in a better outcome on mine, and being huge amounts cheaper if it did work maybe stick to using that every few years as not best to use such harsh chemicals often.

I will say overall the result on the wife bike was ok, mine however would go with poor and little change, both our system as SS so unsure why one was better than the other. Maybe someone local to me would like to do a test with the spare remainder and get a 3rd review out of the bottle.

Even got the mrs to go over mine as she did her own in case it was just me and my method of using it, but she also could not get an improvement on my system. So as much as I would like to give this a huge thumbs up as I would like to have a new looking system, sorry this review I unable to give it a glowing review on it. As said thou it did improve both system but just not as much as I seen other reviews. 7/10 on this one.
