Drift Ghost XL Camera by Drift Innovation.
I purchased this from SPORTSBIKESHOP a little while ago now and I use this place as they are one of the best online I have found and always deliver without any issues pretty much guaranteed next day each time I order from them even if you order late in the evening.
I wanted a new camera system to put onto my helmet easier. I’ve have tried other cameras but this one was the best for the shape and size and how it mounted to your crash helmet as well as other items. Since owning this XL version I have purchased the X version too, as they are just reliable and the battery length is just mind blowing. I can get nine hours out of the XL and around five hours from the X version. I haven’t seen anything compare to this not even close. The footage that comes from it is only 1080p at 30 frames per second which is his one limitation other than that this camera is amazing.
Some of the features from this camera are really useful like the tagging feature, for example it allows you to tag when you spot an incident happen and it will then lock the file and keep a set times length clip to one side, also cloning mode on this I found amazing which is why I purchased a second unit allowing you to press record on one and it automatically starting the second unit recording for you these two features were just really well made and implicated for a camera system, and along with the battery life made it hard to beat for video blogs or just as a camera system in case of an accident.
Other feature which help and make it stand out is the rotatable lens which allows you to position the camera pretty much at any angle and then rotate the lens to correct this positioning, also the app allows you to watch it in real time so you can set it all up from the app and then just use the camera. Being totally waterproof is a huge bonus for us bike riders. Other things again it can do is use things like photo burst you can adjust the field of view you can also add external microphones.
I’ve brought a 128gb micro sd card for mine so with the nine hours of battery life I can get a whole day arriving all on one camera system without having to charge it or replace the battery. And if you set it for video tagging then you can get a weeks worth or from one card.
They do do other models including a 4K version but reviews on that aren’t as promising which is why I ended up with this version. I would love to have a 4K if it was more reliable hopefully in time this problem will be solved though.
Drift Ghost XL Update :- After owning this for a time I decided to post an update on how my thought a few years later.
I have now moved away from the Drift camera system, mainly due to wanting 4k footage. This camera still remains my favorite 1080p camera but its bigger brother and newer version of the drift which is 4k has a bad rep and on going issues, so I have moved to GoPro Hero 9 Black edition.
As for the posted Drift it is still a great basic camera, I never had any issues with it, and loved it feature that just worked so well. I really wish drift would re make the 4k version as i would love to try that out again, as it was such a great slim unit to mount to a safety helmet for recording my rides.
