Hommiesafe Seat Cushion

Hommiesafe Air or Water Motorcycle Seat Cushion.

This is a relatively new item I have purchased but I have put it through it passes quickly due to a planned ride. Over 600 miles on a trip with this and yep I am going to say it does work.

I knew I had a longer ride than normal planned, and after 200+ miles on my bike the seat does start to get that backside in a numb state, so knowing this I headed off to look for a air cushion for my bike and there is rather a large range, from as little as £10 to the £100’s + and brand names to unknown. I put a post up to get some feedback from the group side and shocking enough not many people use them, let along looked into trying one, so not only did I know this would make a good review side but also be a practical item I would use and other may too.

After a week or so of hunting around though the internet and reading some other peoples reviews I decided to go with a mid range one with the higher feedback from online sale, and that was from Amazon with the “Hommiesafe” cushion. What made this one stand out is that not only was it under £30 which was a great pricing but it also had a huge amount of current reviews on it, and the sizing seem to be perfect for the V-Strom seat size as its most likely classed as larger and wider than traditional sports bike seats, so would be a great match for the ADV style bike, and the final part was it was capable of allow water to be used to all better cooling in summer time use.

Once it arrived it took just a few minutes to fit with it straps and was simple to blow it up to the first testing pressure, after a successful install and setup I tested it on a short 10+ mile run, just to see the basic thoughts…. You know, does it slip around, we’re the straps tight enough, was there enough air, or maybe too much. Well the rubber backing to the seat pad did stop it from sliding around that’s for sure, the straps I changed around to test again with it straight from one side to the other, but I will confirm crossing them does hold it on better, thou the clips you use to keep straps in place do make the straps sit at an angle, so I decided to just let them sit how they wanted after many attempts to keep them straight lol, as for pressure and how much air, I going to agree with all the reviews I did read about it, less is more in this case, not saying to have no air, but only enough to support your weight, and that’s it. Due to its air system it allows air to move from one section to another were less pressure is on it. This makes it feel odd at start like a water bed… but you soon get used to that feeling, and in no time I hardly notice the movement apart from at hard braking and acceleration.

So after a few more tests I lowered and raise the amount of air and got to the right sweet spot for me which was allowing me to just ride without noticing the unit on the bike. I will say at this point it does help raise you in your seat (yep kinda obvious) and I did need to adjust my mirrors so allow for this height adjustment. Well after the big day and doing over 350 miles in a day and 600+ over 2 days I got home with just the start of a sore backside, which is way more than I done before, so a huge + result using this, I now got to say if you do long rides and your backside feels the effect of them rides for £30 you really should get one, just make sure you don’t give in and get that air pressure right, as from some ppl reviews they couldn’t be bother to spend the time setting that part up and hoped just pumping it up would work, Nope you do need to adjust that air, but its is simple to do and well worth spending a little time doing it cos the benefit is well worth it.The cushion is easy to clean, but the only downsides are it not the most pretty cover, there are some nice ones with a cover which looks better in my view, and it’s not the best unit to put on and off, so for me I have just left it on as too lazy to keep repeating fitting. Apart from that the benefits it way outweigh the negatives. 9 out of 10 on this, and price is a real bargain from the gains of its use. Would recommend to anyone who get a sore backside.
