Oxford helmet Lock – Lidlock system.
Storage is always a premium on our bikes, a lot of us use a range of items to help add more storage and that can come in the shape of TopBoxes, Panniers and suck, but when it comes to storing say our own safety helmets (as I was always reminded when I was a training motorcycle instructor), or as other call them crash helmets we like to use our topbox it seems more, and while that is great if you got the space to fit it in, or not already carrying other items in it, but what happens when you do not have that extra space or a topbox at all……..
That’s where the Oxford Lidlock comes into effect, yep another Oxford product review lol.
£15 and you get a great basic locking setup to lock your helmet to your bike direct, and it allows all types of helmets with different chin straps to be locked to your bike via say your grab rail or handlebars….. and it takes just a few seconds to use and secure you lid.
I use one of these newer style quick release clasps on my Shark helmet currently, and I like to be able to free up space in my topbox at times, and as i always carry a fair range of tools and other items in my topbox if I plan a shopping trip I need more room, and I don’t always want to fix my Oxford pannier bags so this cheap and reliable lock comes in so handy, as well as locking someone else’s helmet if needed on a group ride.
All you need to do is change the lock code from its 0000 stock number to another number as in manual, and photo below, and then your able to lock your helmet to pretty much any bike via a suitable locking location like the grab bar or even handle bar, and in a few seconds your helmet is safe and saves you carrying with you while your parked up. It is so simple and practical most bikers should have one, and at £15 let’s face it that it’s cheap enough to have one, I’ll carry mine in my tool bag, or its small enough to hide under your seat.
