Shift Waterless Car Wash Solution.
You all know what I am like for cleaning my pride and joy, and I still clean her near on every time I get back from a ride, which is why she stays in great condition, but when it comes to what I use to do that cleaning is a range of high end products. The main one is a decent waterless detailer, now normally this comes in the form of a spray liquid that contains a few chemicals like a cleaning agent and a wax to allow you to do a full clean on that paintwork without the need to grab a bucket, sponge, or hose or even a jet-wash, so a bottle of decent waterless detailer and a couple of thick microfibre cloths.
Now I have used a few different ranges in my time and recently I have won a competition for this particular product I am reviewing now. The first thing that stood out with “Shift” compared to my current waterless detailer is that this one also contains a ceramic coating agent too, which means one less bottle I will need to grab to clean my bike, as I would normally run a dedicated ceramic coating afterwards or if feeling posh a Graphene coating depending on how long since I last applied these, but having the ceramic coating in this detailer is going to really cut back on the time I will need to spend on cleaning my baby.
Now the pricing side, at around £17 for a 500ml bottle I know a few of you are going to say its a little high priced compared to what you may currently use, and at first it is a little more than some of the other brand products I have seen and used, but as said this not only is this a one bottle solution that also contains that “ceramic” extra coating it will also save you time, and lets face it the price of a cheaper alternative and then adding a ceramic coating or topper afterwards brings this inline with most decent detailers when it comes to real world pricing.
As for how well it does that is what makes or breaks the deal on any cleaning product, and I am going to say …..
First impression is a great spray bottle, not some cheap tat that you can only use a few times, in fact the first thing springs to mind is a great refill bottle, so good start with the sizing on what you can order in this range, 5L and even up to 25L bulk buying 🙂 Which is something I always do with my orders. Then checking what the directions are on the bottle side its says to spray liberally on on surface panel only , Wipe in one direction, Buff to shine, Repeat until all panels cleaned. The reasons you need to follow this is that this dries really fast and the same normally goes for more ceramic coatings which as above it contains, this stops any streaks from showing but also gives it the right amount of time for the ceramic bonding process.
There is strange odour from this waterless wash, and I am guess it’s the ceramic side as its similar to my dedicated coating spray I use, which I am going with they have a fair amount of ceramic in this cleaner. Unlike others I used most tend to be heavy on the carnauba which seems to gives a thick milky constancy, (carnauba is a yellow – brown colour) the Shift waterless wash is pretty much clear like a sealant based cleaner which I have found tend to give a better hydrophobic barrier and last longer on protection of your paintworks.
It is really easy to apply due to it being less thinner than other traditional cleaners, which is a huge bonus for quicker cleaning, thou you need to add on buffing time with this as it does need to be done if you want best result. My previous cleaner was more of a one spray solution and did not really need to be buffed, but then I had needed to add a second sealant system afterwards, while Shift is an All in One setup. Once applied and buffed it does come up amazing, it really works well on that side, and especially on the black plastics, giving you a deep black shine on them, even my others cleaners don’t do as well and need 1-2 coats to keep the shine, so the Shift comes up trumps on that one, as for the rest of my paintwork its pretty much the same as my other cleaning products for how well it does.
Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying it is less effective overall, you need to remember I would normally run a waterless cleaner and then a ceramic sealant to get this effect, so this one bottle solution Shift offers does clearly win as it brings them black plastics a lot more shine than my two part solution, it also says time as I only need the one coat of this, and lastly for me the price reflects close to the cost of buying my two separate bottles.
So overall my first impression are a plus on this, it works really well, simple to apply, and has great results, the next and last thoughts will come at a later stage when we see how this does over time, as the say time will tell on this and like my other reviews I will come back in a few months of tests to update for this reason, to see if it last on protection, if the hydrophobic side works after a few months, but for now yep I would give this a huge thumbs up.
Check out some of the photo’s below showing the end result, some serious shine and reflection I have to say.
